All about travelcots and playpens
If you ever visit friends or family, or have other young children to stay
at your house, a travel cot or playpen can prove to be an invaluable piece
of equipment. While you should never leave your child unattended, they are
great for keeping them in a safe place where they can play with their toys
for as long as they are happy. But which one will suit you best, and what
is the difference between a travel cot and a playpen?
Play away
Travel cots are best if you like to take a cot with you when visiting
friends or relative, or if you need to move your baby's cot around your
house. Playpens, on the other hand, are designed to be kept in one place.
So when making your choice you must ask yourself whether you want to leave
the cot in one place, or take it away with you. There are other things to
consider too, before you part with your money. If you are looking for a
travel cot, is it light and portable enough to take out of the house
regularly? When folded away does it fit in the boot of your car, or can it
be carried easily on public transport? Do the bedclothes you've already
got fit the model of your choice? If you're looking for a playpen,
consider whether it be used as a temporary bed while your are on holiday
or visiting relatives.
Extra, extra!
As with any major piece of baby equipment, make sure it will make your
life easier, not more difficult. Make certain that you can carry, put up
and dismantle it easily and that the covers are washable or can be sponged
down. Extra features may look attractive but make sure they also offer
value for money if they push the price up.
